Day 244 The opening

Today's the day my new work place opens its doors to the public. I've worked around 6 weeks now for them and it's been great to be involved in this project and launch it. I hope the people of York enjoy our facilities and find us useful.

I couldn't help but take some pictures of the gym and the studio today, unspoilt at 5:30am before any members step foot through the doors.

Day 241 Standing room only

A few weeks ago our youngest daughter stood up assisted, well she's getting quite good at as well as getting in the way as she doesn't sit still anymore. She's too nosey and do has now discover how she can pull herself up in her cot to look at things...

Day 240 The new house

We've finally moved into our new house! It's been 6 weeks since we left our old house, and in that time we've been living with my OH's parents which has been nice but it's great to have our own place. It's so close to my work too that I can run or cycle instead of drive. Now just comes the joys of moving out stuff and sorting the rooms, I'm sure over the coming days this will feature as other photos...

Day 235 - 239 The Festival

It's been a few days since my picture a day routine / challenge for the year. Don't worry I haven't given up I have been away to Leeds Festival and either not had mobile technology or not been in a fit enough state to form tangible sentences. Needless to say lots of pictures were took and a more thorough write up of the festival will come but now as sadly normal life is resumed I have did a mini montage of pictures to make up for the days I missed while away on my holiday, enjoy....

Day 231 Keep on running

Training for the great north run is going, well, ok. I only seriously started training 2 weeks ago, and even then haven't seriously trained. So tonight u went for a run. I ran 10.6k which is 6.59 miles. I was quite pleased as this is around half the distance of the great north run, and as I finished I didn't feel knackered I felt I could of gone for more.

However there was a slight snag, 3 miles into my run I noticed my shoes had a serious malfunction, never mind I continued on the beaten track, I'll have to get some new ones...

A musical journey July

For this months musical post I've decided to write about my favourite parody songs. Why did thus come about, purely because I was bored one day and started looking at old and new parody songs on YouTube, so here goes....

1) Cookie Monster
I have to admit the original song with Carly Rae Jepson is something if a guilty pleasure song for me, I don't know why but I like it. But if you were to say to me which version do you prefer the original or the cookie monster version then the cookie monster wins it hands down. I've seen a lot of spoof versions of this song, a star wars one, a barrack Obama one, which was a very good one but come on who can deny that the cookie monster is a genius....

2) Star Trekkin'
I always remember this song playing on those 90's holidays with my family. I would've been about 8/9 years old and we use to always go to Great Yarmouth Heaven caravan park. I use to go to the Tiger club which was where all the kids would go. This was on their standard playlist each song cheesier than the last with a dance to do go with it, I still enjoyed it every year though....

3) The Muppets
I like the muppets, they make me laugh with their slapstick humor. This song is one of my all time favourites (the original I mean) so when these 2 collide the muppets and queen what's not to love? Exactly Animal singing mama pure genius....

4) SNL with Michael Bolton
Saturday Night Live, an institution in America. Over the years they churned out so many funny sketches and gave us great comedians. Recently they've gave us great comedy songs and of them a this is my favourite, Michael Bolton singing about giant squids and pretending to be Al Pacino I'd love to know how this song got wrote....

Day 225 Hoopla

Eldest daughter went to a car boot sale this morning with her nanny. Needless to say she came back with something, a hula hoop. So of course she wasted many an hour trying to wiggle her bum like a professional hula hoopist....

Day 223 Team GB

Eldest child is still in the Olympic mood which is good to see, here she is today sporting her Olympic top. She has been asking to watch the Olympics before bed on a night instead of her usual story. She told us that today she'd been to the Olympics and won a gold medal....

Day 222 Family portrait

Our first proper family picture. We really want to go to a photographer and get one fine but haven't managed to yet, (it's on the to do list right next to move in to our new house, eldest starting school, well get there)

Note how youngest is now able to (wobbly) stand whilst aided ....

Day 218 Role models

After Team GB's performance on Saturday night I saw this posted on Facebook the other day. I wanted to share this to all my readers as I 100% agree with this. It was a fanatstic performance by our athletes at the weekend and they are all worthy rolemodels. I hope that there performances inspire not just the younger generations to particpate and more importantly continue to participate but also adults for the health of this nation.

Being a father of two fantastic girls I hope they decide to look up to people such as Jessica Ennis, instead of opting for the superfical idiots of Jordan and TOWIE people. I certainly as a father will be encouraging them to do so without putting too much pressure on sporting results....

Day 217 Jess

Today's picture is to show support to Jessica Ennis. C'mon you can do it Jess win the gold, we're all supporting you...

Day 213 The Olympics

Today I went to the Olympics. Ok I was in newcastle watching the women's football but it's part of the Olympics so it counts. I went to see Canada v Sweden and France v Columbia. I really enjoyed it and it only made me wish I was more successful and had got more of the tickets I'd originally requested. As I got to my seat someone was sat in it, no matter though there were plenty of seats to choose from.

I did feel a bit sad though as the stadium was largely empty, but the British fans of course are always the best at having a laugh and enjoying i, the women's football was quite good and the standard of play was better that I thought it was going to be, Canada in particular impressed me with some great attacking play.

There were also plenty of mexican waves going on, which many people joined in with. If you get the chance I'd recommend going along to one of the games they are definitely worth it
